Two years ago I joined an on-line running community called Daily Mile. It's a great group/site and I highly suggest you check it out (www.dailymile.com). Anyhow, after each run I upload my Garmin to the site and it keeps track of everything including mileage. As of today I have run the equivalent of running across the United States of America. Woo hoo!!!
I have Googled the distance a few times and it seems that most sites put it between 2987.2 miles and 2990 miles. Tonight I reached 2990 ... all run since March 31, 2010. I wish I could say I had logged those miles all over this beautiful country but in all honesty 90% have been run right here in the Washington, DC area. I would say hundred or so miles have been run during trips to my home state of Iowa or during trips to visit my brother and his family in Wisconsin.
The total number of miles I have covered since I started running in 2006, is probably closer to 7 or 8 thousand ... or the distance to friends in who are serving in Afghanistan.
The 3,000 mile mark is just around the corner, probably by the weekend. I'd say that's not too bad for the girl who was never athletic and who, was for much over her life, overweight :-)
So this was the accomplishment that was under wraps!!! Congrats! You are an amazing runner, and an inspiration. I am the age now you were when you really started running and that gives me a lot of hope for my running future. I am so happy our paths have crossed in life! Heather M
